Part-time effort... didn't start til just after 00z. First time as QRP in 'The
Stew'. My tenth year in the TBDC!! Posted to the on-line scoreboard (again)
but with late start never had a chance to get even close to WE9R who was on top
of the QRP Leaderboard.
Pretty good copy to the west/far-west (unlike ARRL 160m 2022). Best DX was K7NJ
(UT), then VE6WZ and KS9W (Colo). Sigs came up nicely a bit later from
Caribbean: managed 3 V.I., a KP4 and a ZF ... FB ears all!
Managed 30 run QSOs (22%); 12 QSOs > 10 pts, 3 QSOs > 20 pts per N1MM+.
No more stations I could work by 06z (1am) local so shut down. Back on b4 S/R,
added 16 QSOs btwn 10:50 - 12:10z, then QRT.
Icom IC-7300 reduced to 5 watts via MFJ-929 Auto Tuner; primary TX/RX antenna:
5/16 wave Inv L (partial sloping vertical radiator approx 105'/over 65' [170'
wire], horiz bend up near 75'), with matching series cap at feed, 3 elevated 65'
non-resonant radials (at 10-12' above soil) and modest [detached] ground screen
of 18 various length wires over 'poor soil conductivity'.
Nice to work many Topband friends and FB ops once again! TNX for pulling out my
5 watt sigs...nice those on the other end get a bonus for working us QRPers per
the 'Stew' rules!! Merry Xmas/Happy Holidays/HNY to all.
73, Bill W1WBB
