Comments:

I began 40 minutes before sunset. Conditions sounded great, but couldn't get a
run going so went to S&P with the same problem - many stations didn't hear
me calling. Fortunately after sunset, everything seemed normal. Probably this
has something to do with the radiation angle. The transmitting antenna is a 54
foot top-loaded vertical with 60 full-sized radials. Vertical antennas have
low-angle radiation, so it seems that before sunset the propagation was mostly
high-angle. The receiving antennas are 3 bi-directional Beverages covering
EU/ZL, JA/SAmerica, and East/West. The radio is a K3S driving an Acom 2000A
amplifier.
