This was my second time trying the Sprint, and I felt like it broke my brain a
lot less this time. I wouldn't say I had an actual "strategy", but I
felt like I had a lot easier time making QSOs this time than the first time.
The first hour on 40 meters was rough. The FOC contest was hoppin' between 7025
and 7032, and the RTTY contest started at about 7040. I made a QSO on 7037 and
really didn't have 5 kHz to QSY. It's wonderful to see the bands so busy, but
it added an extra challenge.
S&P is another unique challenge in this contest because you usually get one
shot at a station calling CQ before they're gone. Pause because you aren't sure
of the call? They who hesitate, etc.
Many thanks to those who shared their N1MM+ function keys online. Having macros
I liked made it much easier to get the flow of the contest. ESM mode made
everything easier. If nothing else, I sent my exchange in the right order every
time!
Rig: IC-7300, 85 W (QRP on 80 meters)
