Comments:
I didn't know this station (and its operator) could make 2200+ contacts in an
ARRL DX CW weekend. It wouldn't have been possible without the amazing global
participation, and of course, the freakish (good) conditions on Friday/Saturday.
And of course, 10 meters, which stayed good through Sunday afternoon. Thanks to
all those world wide who got on, especially in European and Japan, and spent
some (much?) of the weekend trying to make contacts with hams in the US and
Canada.
I had hoped to break the 2 million point barrier, but when that happened early
afternoon on Sunday, what was left? Did leave some points on the table, even
considering my geographical location and station. An analysis of the logs, and a
review of the online score board, suggests I was a little too cautious on Friday
evening, as I chose the conservative option of S&Ping on 15M and then 10M,
which hampered my rate. And for whatever reason I came up short on the mults
compared to my competition here in the southeast. Possibly not being aggressive
enough chasing the rare multiplier when it came up hurt me. I think I played
160M right, and given my limits (good transmit antenna, poor receiving) worked
what I could in Europe during their grey line Sunday morning.
Minimal disruptions due to other obligations, although I missed almost an hour
Saturday morning due to shuttling one of the kids around town, and then also had
to cook dinner right at grey line that evening. We had symphony tickets for
Saturday, but my wife wasn't feeling well, so we couldn't go (oh no!).
16 stations on 6 bands! Thanks all. Of those, special shout-out to the operators
at T48K for their great patience in giving me the Cuba multiplier on 10M via
backscatter.
