I wonder about the value of running 40 plus WPM all the time; Some S&Pers
need several run-throughs to get the callsign, especially when the spacing
between segments is non-existent. On many occasions, running stations may call
CQ a half dozen or more times before getting a response; during that time, as my
brain is absorbing the (poorly sent) callsign, one or two slower calls would
have resulted in a faster response from the S&P station and, therefore, more
QSO points for the running station over the same time period. The more this
occurs, the less fun is the contest for the S&Pers, and the lower the scores
for the big guns.
