Sounds like everyone was running JAs on 10m except for me! I could barely hear
JA3YBK, called anyway but didn't get through. Still, not bad for 2 elements at
20ft.
I worked the other bands in the evenings after 10m closed and in the mornings
before 10m opened. The pileup on 20m Sunday morning was one the worst ones I've
had in a long time. Constant callers and the station I was calling couldn't
hear me going back to them, even after sending their call 2 or 3 times before
sending the report. Rate was less than one per minute. Full credit to the
rarer DX stations who put up with this in just about every contest.
I gladly QSY'd for a number stations while I was S&Ping, even though it
probably hurt my own score. I think they all worked out.
Best ears goes to CR6K on 160m, my only 160m QSO and only 6 bander. The match
on my HF6V isn't great, even with the 160m loading coil. The KPA500 often trips
out, even with the KAT500, so I often run just 100W. Even then I can barely
work stations 1500km away. The KPA/KAT combo seemed to work Saturday evening. I
called a bunch of stations but CR6K was the only one who heard me. Apologies to
all the stations I sent "No Ant" to when asked to QSO to 160m. All of
them were beyond my normal ~1500km workable distance.
Thanks for the Qs!
73,
Chris VO2AC / VE3FU
