Comments:
It was a great contest weekend! The sun's activity decreased over the course of
the week and the bad effects of Wednesday's flare on radio conditions were
feverishly awaited.
But then the sun totally surprised everyone with a big X-class flare just a few
hours before the start of the competition. It seemed that the big eruption
triggered the cndx and 10 and 15m bands were great over the weekend. 20 and 40m
were also in pretty good condition. The low bands, on the other hand, were quite
weak. On 160m, the only station somehow heard was K1LZ.
For some reason, the SWR of the 20m antenna had risen to 1:2.5, but fortunately
the antenna was still usable with a antenna tuner.
The result would seem to be a new Finnish record in the SOAB Unlimited class.
