Comments:

There have been four solar peaks since the unforgettable Cycle 19, but I had not
enjoyed one like that (peaking ca. 1958) until last weekend. All bands were in
good shape, but 10 meters, as many have said, was astonishing. I’m used to 40
meters insanely alive at night during a contest, but this time 10 meters matched
and possibly topped it during daytime. I was gathering QSOs like scattered
acorns while using a barefoot transceiver fed into a vertical with 3:1 SWR on
10m. Hooray for this Cycle 25! My QSO count was the highest I’ve ever achieved
in a DX contest.

As usual in contests, I operated in S&P mode with an IC-7410 and an
Ameritron ALS-600 amp (400-500 watts) using dipoles for 80m and 40m and a
Cushcraft R6000 vertical for the 20m-10m bands. I transmitted with 400 watts on
all bands but 10 meters (100w).
