Thanks for the Qs,
Just 2 hours before the contest started I learned from a friend that self
spotting is allowed in the ARRL-DX competition.
I tried only once the self spotting to experiment with the procedure, but did
not use it later because I could not identify with it.
Am I allowed self spotting even every 5 minutes or more often?
One US station self spotted himself to a frequency only 1.5 kHz under my run
frequency even before calling QRL? or even a CQ.
Naturally a big pile-up and QRM developed, that would not happened if there was
no self spotting.
If sufficient regulation won't be supplied to the self spotting rule, it will
have a lot of negative effect on the contest morals.
For example it should be regulated how frequently a station is allowed to spot
itself on the same frequency, how soon it can change frequency after a
self-spot, etc.
