Comments:
This was supposed to be a 10m shootout with N6SS, our resident AZ 10M expert.
Then the old grizzled veteran Kurt, W6PH, indicated that he might be able to get
off the 2M roundtable reoeaters for a weekend. The deal was struck, Kurt would
Op 47 hours allowing me to put in the Lyon's share of 1 hour.
The station was in pretty top shape due to hard work from KI6RRN, W9KKN, and
W4IX after our microburst problems this contest season. Kurt and I were able to
drive the station together with inband capabilities but also six hour sleep
breaks as needed.
The Icom 7610's got great audio reports numerous times. They kept problems to a
minimum while operating close in together while both on.
The RX verticals here continued to impress while inband. We are looking forward
to further improvements in automation to allow us to be RXing automatically on
the best antenna combo whether runner or searcher. Will there ever be a contest
where we aren't looking forward? I hope not.
Really great conditions! Awesome to work mobiles and portables running QRP in EU
and Asia from here on 10m! Those ZF1A boys decided to show how MS is done!
