Comments:
I need to find a way to make this contest more fun, or at least make more
contacts for the BIC time. I was surprised that I had seven hours in the seat.
Spent too much time trying to get through some of the mobile pile-ups. I even
turned the amp on and was about to use it when I would make the contact or
decide to come back later. I did work mixed mode of CW and Phone. My notes say
I worked Pete (W4WWQ, and Paul (WB2CYJ) on FM phone. I also worked Ed (N3CW/4),
Sam (W4PK), and Riley (K4ORD) on CW. Henry (K4YCR) was heard, but not worked.
I managed to sneak past Pete (W4WWQ) with QSOs at the last minutes, but
he had
me in multipliers. That meant I would not be top in Campbell County, then I
learned that he was single band and single mode. That put us in different
categories. I may have some sort of "First" in Campbell.
Visualize this for more fun. Setup a tour bus for radio operation.
Open the
windows, grill some Kosher wieners for hotdogs, drink sacrificial wine for
refreshment and operate mixed mode QPR mobile through several (lots) of rare
counties and cities. All while in motion. Get a big sign on the side that says
Yardhogs with a picture of a pig chasing a car. We of course would have to have
a designated driver.
More fun will be had next year.
