Comments:
There is a fairly strong Proton Event ongoing,
which causes Polar Cap Absorption (PCA). Thus
Santa has most likely poor HF-communications
as it affects mainly regions up from geomagnetic
67 North or South latitude. At this time most of
the South Cap is not illuminated, so the Arctic
suffers the most.
On 14 MHz there were especially good signals and
activity from the U.K. All the Band Kings were on!
Also Czech and Dutch signals were enhanced today,
but many others weak. I heard VK6T faintly CQ-ing.
Last quarter on 21 MHz with few signals. A surprise
at 1355Z was the sudden appearance of W1AW/1 and W1KM.
Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA #1856 CWops
