Comments:
Murphy was working overtime at K9YC. It started when the 275 ft Douglas Fir that
held one end of four dipoles, including the 80/40 JA-killer, hit the ground in
January storms. I'd hoped to have that one rebuilt for WPX CW, but my climber
found it this week in a redwood across the creek from me.
More hits from Murphy in the form of three unplanned power failures, needed for
replacement of a downed power pole down the road from us, each of which cost
time off. The killer was the last one, around 1 am Sunday, for which I put the
shack computer to sleep. When power was restored, Windoze did an update, which
toasted my N1MM/YCCC SO2R Box setup, blowing another hour Sunday morning when I
groggily returned to the battle and tried to figure out what I'd done ten years
ago to get it configured. AARGH!
All the radio gear worked fine -- the K4 has spoiled me for the K3 that's the
other half of the SO2R station -- I enjoy the new one so much that I want to use
it all the time, so don't do SO2R. The other parts of the equation are my mental
laziness (getting older) and that, especially this weekend, I rarely had two
good bands to work at times I wanted to be on the air (look at the QSO totals
for 80 and 10!, and 15 was stinko a lot of the time).
73, Jim K9YC
