My first VHF contest from Canada with a VHF antenna. Just set it up late
Thursday with an "armstrong" rotator. During the contest realized
that the variable SWR when turning the antenna was due to interaction with an
elevated 160m radial a foot above the antenna. Could only rotate from ~ 160
degrees to 200 degrees. Missed the many EU's people were working but nice to
see the antenna really works according to reception reports even at 3m high. I
will take down the radial for the CQVHF contest but still can only rotate from
about 90-270 degrees due to closeness of the house and RF exposure.
