Comments:
Almost missed the start of CWT due to intensive
study of the June CWops Newsletter (Solid Copy).
Signals on 14 MHz were very damped even in Europe.
The only one easy to work from USA was Howie N4AF.
After mid-CWT I went to 21 MHz and heard only K2B
running a pile-up, then found EA4HKF as the only
one in CWT. I had to check SWPC to see what was
going on, but I could not find any indication of
Solar activity being the cause. Then I checked
RBN and saw spots for may signals all over the
world; USA East Coast, Mid-West and even CA...
I was about to switch back to 14 MHz, but then
started to find some Europeans on 21 MHz. Even
got a call from Pete N4ZR on my CQ. Eric WG3J
came up strong and wkd last minute: Nate N4YDU.
There is Es on 50 MHz, so that may have been
the cause of widespread blanketing and weak
signals on the lower frequencies.
Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA #1856 CWops
