Comments:
Wow, that was fun. I believe this is my highest score in 30 years or so of
participating in CQP. The bands were great, and it was fun to work lots of
Europeans, including ex Club members like DL4JLM.
I knew this one was going to be interesting when the first four callers as I
started to run on 15 CW at 0900 were AH6KO, KL7RA, VE9AA, and KH6AQ!
The new mult structure gave a little more respect to the Canadian Provinces,
and with a sweep defined as 58, I suspect there will be lots of them (like many
others, I ended up with 60). Congratulations to Dean for keeping the contest
changing with the times.
There seemed to be more CW activity this year, and it's becoming clear that
phone is really only useful to maximize score for the largest stations (or if
there are some mults that only show up there). I like the friendly aspects of
phone in CQP, but it's hard to justify with the 3 point to 2 point scoring
differential. My average rate for the whole contest on phone was 100, and 93 on
CW, so the effect is obvious.
Thanks to everyone for participating. I especially commend the serious
out-of-staters, who really put effort into it (for example, 9 qsos with KL7RA,
one of which was on a move he suggested at 5:50 a.m. Sunday morning to 160 --
what a neat idea!).
73, Andy, AE6Y
