Comments:
Run radio: IC-7610 + AL1200 + dipoles
S&P radio: IC-7300 + Mercury iiiS + Hustler 5BTV on the ground @ 500'
horizontal + 90 deg. polarization separation from run antennas
I had a major fire at my home QTH in June that melted a lot of feed lines
together with my only surviving yagi, a puny 3L Hy-Gain 10/15 duobander @ 30',
so this new antenna category was a good fit.
First real try with SO2R. No "box" -- manual headphone switching +
N1MM. I can finally see what everyone's talking about. Almost all of my choices
for screen/window placement and ergonomics sucked, but a lot was learned in a
short period.
Condx were fun -- VO1MP sounded like somebody walking on gravel, but he heard me
first call! Actually got 2xVO, 2xKP2 & 2xKP4. Just one VY1 (VY1CO called me
on 40) and one SB, though. What's up with SB? Too expensive? Saw a cool flag
online the other day: "DEFUND THE HOA."
I was planning to refurbish my 2 90' towers with new yagis this fall, but the
fire messed that up. Next year....
SS(B) in 2 weeks. Send me some pix and stories!
