Comments:
As with the last time I operated in SOAB Classic, it's quite a
strategy-intensive category, especially low power! With conditions changing, I
was hoping for strong high-band and got partly there, but the disturbance on
Saturday afternoon put a lid on what I could hear and work. Even so, there was
lots of opportunity to have a good time. When I handed off the station to KK0U
on Sunday morning, I felt like I'd grabbed just about everything possible.
There were a couple of Zone 26-27-28 stations Sunday morning on 20 meters that
just weren't reachable with LP and on a skewed path over Europe. A Zone 22
station was strong but not hearing a group of us calling, as well. Zone 34 was
not heard at all, nor were Zones 36 or 38 - oh, for the days of ZD8Z with that
big signal out of Ascension!
Nevertheless, the station played well and it is a good effort that greatly
exceeds the previous W0 record but I'm sure there were others active yet to
report, so we'll see how things stand later. And now, it's nap time! See you
all in the next one.
73, Ward N0AX
