IC-7300 + AL-1500 to rotary 4L @ 50'. No SO2V.
VFB to work many friends - the clear highlight! Sorry for keying all with the L
hand - all attempts at using CTRL/K were poor. No paddle.
Current sunspot cycle allowed all to work way more than in many years, but
poorer than CQ WW CW 2 weeks ago. Condx odd here. M-flare of 5.4 just before
start and many more flares affected whole weekend. Many unanswered CQs. 153
was peak 60-minute rate, down significantly from CQWW. USA/VE seemed solid.
VK6 over EU Sat AM, but EU a little late starting and a little early stopping.
All other continents poor. PYs and others loud and just CQ in my face
repeatedly.
Amazing activity from ND, WY, NE and other rarer States. VE5/6 were late, then
frequent, too. 6 XE States.
Missed PJ2T and TI (both CQ in face), P40L and ZD7BG (heard, but no chance of
breaking pileups) and never even heard V3 or Team Vertical at VP2V.
Unprecedented, really. Asia/OC - never heard HL, BY, YB, DU, etc.
70 JA logged: 0001-0003 Fri, 2147-2301 Sat. and 2152-2306Z Sun. Way down from
250+ in CQ WW.
Barely dodged the incoming lightning Sunday afternoon.
Happy Holidays to all!
vy 73, Dan
