Re: Amplifier Tuning

I am a firm believer in using a monitor scope with the familiar
trapezoidal pattern to show all sorts of info about the amplifier output
and its' relationship to the input signal. Meters are fine for showing
approximate values of grid, plate current but only the scope lets you
tweak the last bit out without overdriving and getting non linear. This
is especially important with new ops in a contest situation. Whenever we
change bands, antennas or make a wide frequency excursion, a quick tweak
during the first CQ or QRZ is all that is needed. There is a station
monitor scope at all positions (4 so far) and everyone knows what a
sideways Christmas tree looks like! A picture (scope) is worth a thousand
words (meters) in this case....
