I also run 6 monoband amps with 6 power supplies during m/m
contests. Seems like a waste at times.
I was surprised to see Frank's W3LPL station with 6 RF decks and
one "hugh" HV power supply off against the wall. I never thought
that would work for all the obvious reasons. But it does. I'm not
sure how he runs the HV to the amps or power turn-on etc. The amps
use 3-1000 tubes.
In Alaska we seldom have more then 4 stations running at the same
time, more often only three. On the East coast I would think Frank
would be "full blast" most of the time!!!
W7RM had all 6 amps side by side on one wall. The facility where I
work has a transmitter building that has all the "uplink" equipment
(20 kw amps, etc) together in one area. Although at first it seems
appealing to remote the amps for heat, noise, etc, the inter-
station interference and remote monitoring overwhelms the idea for
me.
Congrads to Ks9k for taking the time and picking up this reflector.
I'm surprised Paul, because you use 6 store bought toy amps for the
m/m. Also please send me EVERYTHING posted as I chose to do my own
censoring.
