- The full name is current-limited high-potential breakdown tester, or
'hi-pot' for short. It is typically used to examine a vacuum
tube(valve)/relay/capacitor for vacuum intergrity, and to examine
rectifiers for avalanche voltage. There's a circuit and description of a
