Yes you increase the primary voltage and it will give you higher
secondary voltage.
The catch is do you think the transformer your using will handle the
extra KVA you will be asking it to handle? If its a big ol mama and you
dont care, go for it. Another way of increaseing the primary voltage is
to but a large filiment transformer secondary in series with primary. It
will boost the 240 line to say +12 volts to 252. The filiment transforer
will have to also handle the KVA rating required. This will give you
another option to look at and take up less space.
