In a message dated 98-05-31 18:06:41 EDT, you write:

<< The 3CX3000A7 is $795 (need one tube only) (at discount)
 The 3CX800A7 is $435 PER tube X 3 $1305 (at discount)

The single tube (3CX3000A7) is superior for IMD and Harmonics, and much
superior to the 3CX800A7 when three tubes are used.

Just out of curiosity, why would anyone design an amp with 3x3CX800A7s instead
of 1x3CX3000A7? It would seem that from basic principles it would always be
better to design with fewer active elements and preferably one. I am curious
as to what the design implications, plus and minus, are in making the above
decision.

I had an opportunity to admire a Henry 8K. Very nice!!
