Hey all,

For those of you who have been following my progress on my 4-1000A amp, I
have some good news (knock on wood)!

After making some circuit modifications and improving some of the bias
switching and so forth on my PA, and after getting a different and
working tube, I am pleased to report that my first trial of the amp
worked quite well.

I managed to get out about 1400 Watts on 20 meters with about 95 watts
in. This was with around 5500 Volts on the anode. It's not the power
out figure that Eimac claims is possible, but oh well...

And thanks to all who gave help and advice on the input PI-nets. The
input impedance DOES indeed vary substantially with drive level. I had
not seen that before likely due to a bad tube.

Hopefully within a week or so, I'll be able to have all the final tweaks
in place in the matching networks and have this thing back together!

Mucho thanks to Rich Measures, Jim Thomson, John Lyles, Phil Clements,
Carl, and others for their help! Thanks for the elmering, guys!

I'll let y'all know when the ole fire bottle is finally cooking!

73,

Jon
