Just adding my comments as an interested by-stander. I've been trying to
follow some of the discussion, but its long past my understanding - and
interest. I'm certain that if I build the amp I have in mind, I will add
parasitic supression as suggested by Mr. Measures. It dosen't cost much and
I doubt it would actually hurt anything, and Mr. Measures sounds very
plausible to me. But heck, I'm not an engineer and I'm not even very
knowledgable about amplifiers or RF design in general.
I'm here because I have a strong desire to build a particular amplifier
using a 4CX400A. And,
also to find a way to convert some old sweep-tube amps to use the
6KG6/EL509. I'm still working
on the first, and the second - Svetlana has the answer to do the conversion.
I realize sweep tube amps are of no interest to many of the regulars, but
based on the mail I received, there are many people who ARE interested.
I've been pretty close to un-subscribing, accepting the fact that this
reflector has become a private chat line with a very, very narrow focus.
One which has nothing to do with Ham Radio. I consider this a great shame.
I subscribe to a number of reflectors. On none of them have I seen such an
enormous amount of knowedgle regarding a particular topic. I keep hoping I
will see discussions on topics of use and interest to me.
