In terms of effective data rates, it should be noted that maximum phone QSO rates in contests are typically only 2 to 3 times higher than CW rates ( a good phone op in the Carribean can do 300 - 400 qsos per hour if he talks fast, as opposed to around 200/hours for a good CW op). Thus the effective phone data rate is only 2 to 3 times higher than CW. On the other hand, the bandwidth required is at least 3 to 10 times that of CW depending on how you look at it.
