[AMPS] Alpha 87A Failure

I just subscribed to this refl. I had a hard shutdown this morning of
the 87A and I understand I have to hook up a computer to the amp in
order to diagnose the problem and hopefully clear it. Can someone help
me with a computer/cable routine?
