No, I have not made the measurement--good idea.

The circuit has appeared in various publications, including: Motorola
silicon zener diode handbook, Electronics World, article, "The Amplified
Zener" Sept., 1970, and in QST, June, 1975 page 45. The QST article is
specifically using it as the biasing device in QRO amps., so I presume its
regulation is adequate for "our" purpose. At any rate, I have been using it
in that application with no apparent problems.

Either PNP or NPN can be wired for cathode bias, and either silicon or
germanium is okay. I have used some very big germaniums, which I got from
virtually free sources.

Anyone who beats me to the punch in measuring dynamic regulation hopefully
will publish findings here.
