One friend over here in Hawaii had high level static from his solar
heater temp sensors. He blamed the power poles for years when it was a
simple in house low volt item. Don't make the power company look for
something wrong then be standing on your roof with the power company man and
his sniffer pointing the device straight down into your house. I still gotta
laugh about the boy in Kaui. Uh duh...The first thing I was thinking 1)
ground wires attached to water pipes. 2) aluminium wiring. 3) The most
common noisy water heater. Instead of saying maybe the racket the devices
are making are getting into the mixer I'll just say maybe try to see if it
does the same thing on battery power or just retune while the space ship is
hovering outside every time she turns the hot water on. Prove to the aliens
that they can't stop her enjoying working at home. Oh yah. Volts applied is
a factor in getting the freq tuned for. The socket might have big bertha
water heater dropping the voltage while the radio isn't stablising the
voltage. Try tripping the breaker for the heater and run the hot water test
if you aren't looking at carrying around a multi-tester. Better yet get her
to be a ham radio operator and listen to better freqs. My advice is don't
try any of this at home except ham. And that is especialy without a radio
that uses the ground wire of the power cord as part of the antenna.

15.95).
| >>She has it on the counter near the sink in her kitchen. She noticed
when
| >>she tuned to a specific AM radio station (1230 kHz I believe) a strange
| >>thing happens when she turns on the hot water. With the water OFF,
| >>reception is OK. A reasonably good signal and the quality of the music
is
| >>as expected. Now -- she turns on the HOT water. As the water warms
the
| >>signal disappears! By the time the water is running hot the signal has
| >>been attenuated by an estimated 30 or 40 dB!!!!!!
| >>Turn off the water and the signal slowly comes back as the pipes cool.
| >>As far as I could tell this only happens on the one station.
| >>There is no known spook in the house.
| >>Really --- this is true!!!
| >>Any ideas???
