A week or so ago I put out a "Help Me" regarding getting my 2x4-1000 amp
neutralized. Thanks to all for your input. I ended up increasing the CN
bypass cap and all is well.

Over the last couple of days I completed tweaking the 15M and 10M input
coils & got it neutralized. Appears stable at all settings of C1, C2 and
input tuning - Happy Camper.

It loafs along at 1500W output with 60 to 80 watts drive, depending on the
band, in Class C and I have to throttle the transceiver almost to power off
in AB1. Those 4-1000s are 'hot' when you stick 1KV on the screens. I need
to complete the T/R relay setup, then roll it into the shack.

I plan to use it for a few weeks, looking for quirks, explosions, fires,
etc. Then I need to pull the front panel off the RF deck and do some
painting. Then it's two NIB 4-1000As that have been in the attic of the
garage for 10 years!

This thing started 20+ years ago as I collected 'stuff' & construction has
been hot and heavy for about the last year. Want to pass along my thanks to
y'all for the tips, ideas, pointers.

Some of the helpers: Rich Measures (your web pages are a lot of help),
Terry Gaiser, Jon Ogden, Steve Thompson, Tom Rauch, Vic Rosenthall, Ian
White (stole the screen current monitor from your web pages), Leif
Aringsbrink (more great web pages). I know there's more, but I'm a lousy
note keeper.

I learned an important lesson last night.... I've been paranoid about the
HV power supply & screen supply ever since I built them. I'm still alive so
this is good. Last night while completing the neutralization (HV leads
disconnected at both ends, AC un-wired, control relays pulled), I grab CN
and get hammered by the -150V bias. Hmmm... anything over 30 or 40V can
kill ya if you connect it right! More paranoia needed.

Once again, thanks for your help this past year. Hope to bump into you on
the air.

Best 73, Bill N2BC
