Phil, if the solvent has partially dissolved the plastic, I don't think
there's much you can do about it.
For restoring plastic dial covers on antique radios -(covers that have
turned hazy due to the presence of minute, fine scratches), I use the Novus
series of plastic cleaners/polishes. Works well on the clear plastic cover
over the instrument cluster on the dashboard too. They get scratched-up
when you jam your shirt cuff down there to wipe the dust away. A few
minutes with Novus plastic cleaners, and they look like brand new.
