Hello gang,
My latest Heathkit SB-220 rebuild was quite the animal. The proper
and complete rebuild of an SB-220 will take some hours of serious
work. After all the solder flux smoke has cleared, I fired the happy
animal up for a terminated trial run. Above the 150 watt power
level, I got snapping across the loading cap.
Comparing this capacitor to another 70's vintage SB-220 loading
cap shows the latter has a larger plate spacing. Can one of
you trivia people tell me the reason for the factory change..?
thanks
skipp
ps: the http://sonic.ucdavis.edu server is back on line and mucho
faster.
