Gimminee f#$%ing Christmas Are you guys for real? Do you have any ideas
what 1N5408s cost when bought in quantity? One year ago I purchased 2 bags
of 100 1N5408s for 40 bucks at RF Parts ! That's 20 cents a piece. With 200
diodes and a few pieces of perf board I can make 3 full wave bridge
rectifiers with 10Kv on a leg and still have still have 80 diodes left over
for various projects. If you connect that to a transformer with a secondary
voltage of 3500 volts the PIV of an individual leg is 4900 volts. That
leaves you with a safety factor of 100% ! Worried about transients? Slap
an MOV on the primary!
