It's not really a "can." It is PVC.
Resonances are eliminated in this choke by a ferrite rod inserted into the coil
form. This scheme has been well documentated in ham radio publications, and
used in thousands of amplifiers made by Harris.

The B&W was never popular in the amateur service because it is VERY large.
