Working on HV without...
1) applying shorting stick
2) connecting shorting strap while stick is in applied.
is asking for trouble.
How many times have you flipped the wrong breaker or
connected the wrong power cable???
HV poses other dangers as well. Fire for one.
Winter employment during high school years at a TV picture tube reman
taught that a tube, in the box, and on the shelf for months, might still
carry
a hefty charge. In my case, enough to ignite a trough of toluene turning me
into a human torch. Fortunately the manuf had a 500lb dry chemical
extinguisher, in working order, next to the washing troughs and only loss
was
my hair, a rubber suit, toluene, and the expense of a recharge.
