Hello I am thinking of making a 2 x 4CX800/GU74b amplifier for 6m. Given
that most transceivers have 100 watts of drive available and that power
output controls don't work on the initial part of the waveform (IC746 =
nasty high power spike)and that I don't trust myself to remember to turn the
power down, what would be the best way to achieve amplifier stability using
a grid driven configuration? Would I be thinking along the right lines if I
were to use an untuned input with an attenuator to make the driver see 50
ohms? Can anyone point me to any examples of this or data so that I can work
it out for myself. I have no problems with the output circuit but I have
never used a tetrode when I have so much excess drive power to waste.

EU 6m OPS take note I will be using a very well regulated screen supply :)

Regards
