********** Homebrew Radio things *******************

Many hams build things with a large investment in time & parts that are
worth far less... later. Here are some items from the estate stuff I've
been selling that fit that description -- priced accordingly.

Unless noted, most of the items below are built on PCB material and most
of the enclosures are made by soldering pieces of PCB material into a box
-- not all sides may be present! Batteries not included! A few of
these devices come with schematics, mostly not. The wiring is all open
enough that you can generally see what is going on.

Battery drainer -- LM317K (TO-3) plus a pot wired as a current sink to
drain batteries -- 4" x 3" x 1.5" -- $2

PL Tone generator -- Wein Bridge Oscillator powered by two 9 volt
batteries. - $3

Fully populated 2.5" x 5.5" homebrew PCB w/ two 1496 balanced mixers, a
couple slug tuned coils, plus a CA3001-- I only see power connections;
Don't know what this does! $4

Touch Tone Encoder -- Western Electric Touch Tone Dial mounted in a
4"x4"x2" metal enclosure with power switch. Has a 4 pin DIN connector
plus matching cable terminated in a 1/8" mini plug. $5

Two Tone generator -- Two Wein Bridge Oscillators powered by two 9 volt
batteries on perf board. - $5

Some kind of test oscillator with a 556, two pots with anodized gold
(colored) knobs, pwr. sw.. LED,. & Banana jack outputs -- $5

435 MHz power splitter with (3) N connectors. This made out of brass
sheet stock and is about 15" long by 1" square. $10

Varactor multiplier (unfinished) -- looks like it's designed for 144 to
440. Built in a 3.5" x 2" x 7/8" extruded aluminum case -- top plate
missing. Silver plated coils, Johnson 189-6-4 caps. It think it is
complete execpt for the input and output leads. $10

Some kind of VHF thing just started. Pomona 4"x2.5"x1.5" cast box with a
couple 160-104 capacitors, BNC connectors, a miniature 50K bourns pot., 6
capacitors mounted to gold plated terminals with a very pretty gold
flashed internal shield structure. Nothing is soldered -- this was just
started. $10

Antenna Noise bridge? -- Pot & Cap plus 4 transistor circuit mounted in a
5" x 4" x 2" enclosure. BNC connectors marked ANT & RX. Pwr SW. & Led
Powered by a single 9 volt battery. - $10

Two Meter to 24-28 MHz converter (I think!) -- 5" x 4" x 1.75" -- $12

A VHF thing -- Two trombone lines adjustable between 4-6" with a
transistor connected between them plus a Phasotron 50 ua 2" round meter
on a BNC cable with a small loop w/a diode. -- $12

Active Field Strength Meter -- Schematic per 1985 ARRL Handbook p 39-10.
Built in a 5" x 4" x 3" black crackle finish metal case with a Simpson
Model 29, 4" meter, covering the entire front of the box. -- $15

144-148 MHz to 24-28 MHz Transverter -- 5" x4" x 4" overall -- 2N3866
Output transistor, probably runs about a watt on transmit. Barrier strip
for power (12V?) and an 8 pin Japanese style Mike connector for ?.
Transmit & receive sections are each 5" x4" x 2" and only interconnected
with a few wires -- $30

********** More Test Equipment ****************

Hewlett Packard 204B Opt. 2 Audio Oscillator (transistorized), 5Hz to
560KHz in 5 ranges. 5" x 6" x 8" deep. This is a rechargeable battery
unit but, the batteries died and were removed long ago. The batteries
would need to be replaced before operating or the unit could be converted
to AC operation by adding a couple capacitors & zeners. I believe the
unit is otherwise complete & functional but, I don't have the time to
test so I can't guarantee that! This is from a friend's estate and it may
have been in storage for as long as 25 years. An original HP manual is
included -- $50.

***** Mechanical Things & tools *****

Koolronic model JF1F018N single ended squirrel cage fan. 1/20 HP 50/60
Hz ball bearing motor. Squirrel section is about 7" diameter with appox.
2.5" square air egress. Motor is about 3.5" diameter by 3.5" deep.
Runs surprisingly quiet (at 3335 RPM on 60 Hz) and puts out a LOT of air!
-- probably at least 100 CFM w/.25" pressure. Appears to be NOS (just a
couple of storage scratches -- $40

Sanyo-Denki 103-775-0611 Stepper Motors -- 1/4" dia. shaft extends about
3/4" out each end. Outer Case is about 2.2" round, with a square flange
on one end, by 1.5" deep.
1.8Deg (200 step/rev) 2.25V, 1.25A, 8 lead configuration presently wired
as 4 lead units
(I think the coils are wired in series for bi-directional drive) to
"Molex" connectors.
 RFE 10 pieces, $100 all

Trav-A-Dial bidirectional counter -- I think this was originally for use
with a mill or lathe in conjunction with a 200 count/rev quadrature
encoder to read displacement in .0005" increments up to 200 inches.
These use Hewlett Packard dot matrix decimal readouts for a very pretty
display. Switches for direction control and reset. Nice cast metal
case, requires +5V. $75

Prototype or reject circuit boards from the above -- the readouts are
either all good or one bad one per board -- which is probably why they
were removed from service. $15 ea

************** MISCELLANEOUS ***************

Large (uncased) display unit. 256, T-1 3/4, LED's arranged in a 16 x 16
pattern that is about 5" square. There is a 6" x 6" mother board plus 16
daughter boards holding the LED's. The LED's are driven by latches so
any/all of them can be lit. There is a 14 pin DIP interface connector --
pin out provided. $75.

Three 5CM diameter knobs that look like they are from a Kenwood TS-830
(main tuning knob) or similar. One is "stock", one has been filled in
back with shot to give it some heft, and the third is the spinner
version. These are used with just a few minor blemishes visible in the
aluminum disks; the plastic part looks fine. $30 for all three.

Red & Black Five Way Binding Posts -- NOS, look like HH Smith 459,
requires 1/2" mounting hole up and will fit up to 3/8" thick panel.
$1/ pair (one ea red & black)

Large Silver Plated 6uH (calculated) coil -- 12 turns of 3/8" diameter
copper tubing,
4" diameter x 9" long overall. The ends are factory finished into flat
tabs w/ 3/16"
mounting holes. The silver is tarnished over about 1/2 its surface from
age. $30

Late '70's vintage likely Military, probably airborne, VHF power
amplifier
assembly. It consists of 7 almost identical amplifier assemblies
clustered around a
central housing that has splitter combiner networks which are plugged
onto each end with a bunch of SMB connectors. There are TNC's for the
main in's & outs. I think it was originally configured as one amp,
driving two, driving four boards. The complete assembly measures 7.5" x
5"
x 3.5" overall -- the individual RF amp boards are 4.5" by 2". The
outer covers
are mostly missing. Each amplifier is a push pull design -- they appear
to be
50 ohm in & out impedance with either PT6747 or PT6702 TRW transistors.
I would
guess this unit operates on 28VDC. I don't know what frequency range it
covers nor the power level though, just guessing, it probably puts out at
least 100W. And there is no manufacturer name -- probably went with
the outer cover. Six of the stages are marked OK and one, the input
stage I think, is marked NO Good. The individual amps have integral heat
sink plates so, they could be removed from the assembly and used
separately. Think of it as 7 amplifier boards @ $10 ea -- Bare PCB's
would cost as much! -- $70

200W (or so -- 10" long) 1500 ohm 10 tap (every 150 ohms) power resistors
-- used good, $10 ea

Ohmite 100 ohm 225 W resistors (10" long) used good, $8 ea

#27 (green enameled) wire wound 40 TPI for 4.3" on a 3/4" diameter
ceramic form which steps to a 1.3" diameter base tapped for two 6-32
screws, 5.5" long overall. Looks like winding has been cleanly spliced,
twice -- $15

Pomona #2399 cast Aluminum Boxes (2¼" x 1-1/8" x 7/8" o.d.) w/ gold
plated SMA
female connector on each end. New (in factory sealed plastic bag) --

Very solid detents! Used, excellent. $10

Filter Cap Assemblies: Eight 80 uF/450V axial electrolytics mounted to a
5"x8" fiberglass

reconfigured by
cutting & jumping a couple PC traces. $20 ea. (2 available)

10uF 600 VDC "oil" caps, 5", 3.5" x 1" w/ mounting ears. $3 ea

Plus a few inbetween values. Most are 3AG, some are slow blow.
      30 boxes total -- $30

***************** Power Supplies **************************

Open (L-shaped) frame power supplies with attached 2 wire polarized line
cord, 120V 60 Hz AC input. There is a relay that switches the 3 voltage
outputs. They measure about 6" x 3" x 2". They have an internal 1A line
fuse. They have a six-pin SIL output connector and come with a matching
cable to pigtails. The wires are: GND, +5V switched, -5V switched,
relay (gnd to operate), +12 switched, and +12 constant (for the relay).
Just guessing from the 780X series regulators, I would think that the +12
and +5 outputs are good for about an amp. and the -5, which regulator is
unheatsinked, perhaps a couple hundred mA.

 5 units available. $15 ea.

& an OSRAM N32 marked 380V
plus a couple other screw-in types on which I can't read the numbers

These are a mix of new and used, mostly made by GE, though I saw a few
Westinghouse and RCA while I was making the list -- they probably
average 40 years old and most of the bases are somewhat tarnished from
age. I lit up a couple of the larger ones and they seem to work ok -- a
transistor curve tracer works great to test these.

If anyone would like the whole bunch, I'll take $75 for them all.

All of the above plus shipping, if necessary, naturally.
