Definitely violent agreement here. With the European equivalents to the 4-125
series, where there isn't a metal ringed base a la Eimac/RCA etc construction,
I've found a very noticeable improvement in reliability by fan cooling the
seals. It stops that business of the filament pins coming unsoldered and the
socket overheating. The metal based US versions of this series (the originals)
would appear to have been designed with this in mind.

The problem appears to be that adequate cooling is neither totally silent or
free, and when building down to a price, some corners have to get cut. Yet
another advantage of home brewing........
