Leave it in the final position with the bottom connected, and 
disconnect the top from the circuit and test it at that point using 
short leads to the 259B. Be sure to set the tank circuit to various 
bands if you see a dip, so you are sure the tank is not sucking out 
signal. You should see no change when you change the 
bandswitch.

Watch for frequencies where the impedance dips.
