I took possession of two brand new boxed EIMAC 4-500 tubes today.

For those interested the specs I could find :

Dissipation (500 watts)

Filament Voltage (10.0 +/- 0.5 V)
Current @ 10 V (10.2 A)
Amplification factor (5.5)
Cin (15.0 pF)
Cout (5.0 pF)
Cpb (0.15 pF)
Frequency of maximum rating (110 MHz)

Now I am curious why the 4-400A is so well utilised but I have never seen
the 4-500A being used in projects ..why ?

The 4-500A looks like a better choice than the 4-400A but is not even listed
in the ARRL handbooks ?

Other than changing the filament voltages how any ideas how it will perform
as a straight replacement in my current 4-400 A amps.
