This was his "normal" operation because he was a "professional military
operator" and he had the throttle up at emergency war position. And, it
says he had two fans in the summer. Does that mean he turned them off in
the winter to have radiant heat from the box. And, in the summer, he had
the two fans connected to fight each other. Either that or his wife did not
like ham radio and he operated his amp under the covers.
