Actually for your info,  poorly design ALC circuit (in the radio) can cause
splatter in themselves.. Their are a lot of radio's that have serious
overshoot  & ALC IMD that allow large peaks to be transmitted. Which briefly
flattops the radio final unit & the amp being driven by it. Example's are
Icom 775 , Kenwood 430 , 940 ,930 ... Yaesu 1000MP/MK5 , FT990 ...The MP/990
does not have overshoot but does have ALC.... IMD modulation from its
circuit.
