I saw a RCA 1 kW broadcast TX last week that was running new Amperex 4-400's that were graphite plate, without the fins that are on the Eimac/Triton style (that look like 3-500Z plates). The plates were smooth cans, and they were glowing cherry red in the modulator. They were made by the Covimag factory in France, which Richardson gets their 'amperex' tubes from. Anyone have any 3-500 experience with tubes having this sort of plates in them? John K5PRO -- |
