If your design constrains allow for a relatively high PS output internal resistance (5 - 100OHM) it will be wise to insert in SERIES with every capacitor a limiting resistor/fuse. A thyristor crossbar can then be triggered by the failure of the cap, thus the other caps will be protected. Safety of the HVPS is the predominant design criteria design and not the shaving of two pennies of the final product. Thus your experience/skill will determine what kind of PS comes of your engineering desk :) Alex |
