//Interestingly, I can get "that old AM sound" out of my solid-state
TS-850S/AT, to the extent that when I use AM (29.01+) and tell the
boatanchor crowd that I'm using a Valiant, every one of them believes it and
says it sounds great. But I'm using a Kenwood SSB rig. I eventually tell
them. (It's all in the adjustment, and thankfully the '850S is one of the
least critical to adjust rigs I've ever found for AM TXing.) -WB2WIK/6
