Chris, if you have a 4 KV meter why not make it an 8 KV meter. The 4 KV meter you have now probably draws 1 ma at kV full scale. That would mean it would have a 4 meg series resistor(s) built it. R= 4KV/.001ma To make it a 8 KV meter put another 4 meg resistor in series with the existing meter. Then at 8 KV full scale the meter will draw 1 ma. The 4 meg resistor(s) could be mounted on a separate board and may include 10 - 400K (600v) resistors. Regards, Denis VE6AQ |
