** Revitilizing thoriated tungsten cathodes seems to work with tubes
whose emission was reduced by air contaminating the thorium. In the case
of a slightly gassy tube, the contamination can be driven off by
temporarily increasing the filament V. In a tube with a good vacuum that
is low on emission, acetylene (H^2C^2) gas can be used to recarburize the
filament. In Other Words, send the tube to a commercial rebuilder.
