[Steve Katz] For Rich's info, Diodes Inc is on Hillcrest Blvd in
Westlake Blvd, about 10 miles from your home. I know them well. They're
not a manufacturer, but a large franchised reseller of mostly Asian-made
products (although some are made elsewhere).

[Steve Katz] That's true. Microsemi Corporate is actually in Santa
Ana, CA. The Scottsdale, AZ address is one of the other six or seven
manufacturing plants and is only a few miles up the street from Motorola's
fabrication facility. Every time Mot dropped out of a discrete semi market,
Microsemi pretty much picked it up and took over the manufacturing, using
the same processes, and often the same masks, as Mot used.

The other big kid on the block in this market is Vishay, who went
around buying almost everyone in the discrete component industry over the
past several years (they bought and took over General Instrument's semi
division, then General Semiconductor Industries' semi division, and on and
on and on) and they actually do manufacture their parts, all over the world.

Microsemi probably has the most stable processes, since a lot of
their parts, including zeners, are mil-spec under MIL-S-19500 and sold into
the JAN, JANTX, JANTXV etc. market.
