Anyone know if there is a Russian military surplus direct equivalent
for this tube and if so what is it called. Need a pair for an Alpha 76
2 holer, and where to buy, thanks.

Bob;
Svetlana offers their own 3cx800a7. It is a direct replacement for the Eimac. I sell tubes, and I have sold many of these Svetlana 3cx800a7 tubes, and (knock on wood) I have NEVER had to replace a single one of them. The price is anywhere from 50 to $100 less per tube than the Eimac's, not a big savings, but it does help some. I am out of them right now, but if you want a pair you can find them at many of the tube sites on the internet. I know RF Parts carries them and also Surplus Sales of Nebraska comes to mind right away.

If you wouldn't mind buying a medical pull, WA8WZG, Tom Whitted sells 3cpx800aa7 Eimac medical pulls. He has a web site, ( http://www.wa8wzg.com ) and offers the 3cxp800a7 medical pulls at $250 each......I think He says all of his tubes have been fully tested and he gives them a full, no questions ask warranty. He guarantees that each tube will still be at full output when you buy it. If you aren't happy just send them back and he will send you another tube or a refund.....He is a super nice guy to buy from.

If you aren't in a hurry I may be able to help you find some later on....but if you need then now either one of those places will be glad to help you.

One last thing....You may get several emails telling you the Svetlana 3cx800a7 tubes are not near as good as the Eimac. As I said before I have sold many many dozens of the Svetlana tubes, and so far I have NEVER had to replace a single Svetlana 3cx800a7. Not selling the same thing in an Eimac tube, I cant fairly say that this would be better than the Eimac tube, but lets face it does say they cant be any worse. Eimac makes a good 3cx800a7 tube, but so does Svetlana. There are always going to be people who will tell you "Oh I bought a brand new set of those sorry Svetlana 3cx800a7 tubes, and one of them failed within a months time".....Well, I can counter with this...a very close friend of mine bought a brand new amp that had the Eimac 3cx800a7 tubes in it, and within 2 months one of those had failed. He ask the amp company why the tube failed, and they told him it was just a defective tube from the get go, and that they had been having problems with the Eimac's, and they were actually having to test a large number of the tubes just to get enough to build the amps. The factory told him that the last batch of the Eimac's they had received had a 20% failure rate!......So who are you going to believe? I think all that goes to prove is that there are people with good experiences and people with bad experiences with each brand of tube, and likely neither tube is any better or worse than the other. As the old wise man use to say...." You Pay;s your money and takes your chances"
Now that I have bored you to distraction, I will say:
